Ridglea Hills PTA is proud to celebrate the artists who participated in our Reflections Arts Program and explored the theme of “ Accepting Imperfection”!
We had 13 entries from Pre-K to 4th grade in four different categories! Six of these artists will go on to represent Ridglea Hills Elementary in the district-wide competition in December.
Thank you to all of these artists for sharing their creativity with us, and thank you to the families who support their passion!
Thank you to our judges, Mr. Cody Cox, Ms. Noah Folsom, and Mr. Jerry Lynn of Monnig Middle School, and Ms. Laura Nungaray of Stripling Middle School.
Award of Excellence
I was inspired by skills that I learned in a tumbling dance class. My cartwheels and handstands are still a work in progress. I just wanted to move and dance to the music. It’s not perfect, but I had fun!
Award of Excellence
My dance relates to the theme of Accepting Imperfection because you can tell that not everything in the dance is perfect. For example, my hair wasn’t perfect, and I accept that. Not all my moves are perfect either, and I accept that too. And the reason I chose my song was because when I was looking through songs, this song stuck out to me because mistakes can be imperfections. This is why I think my dance fits the theme.
Award of Excellence
In my opinion, my riff is the most in the middle riff I have ever made. I made this riff just by playing my guitar.
Finley - “Me and My Sister”
Award of Excellence
I drew my sister and me on a swings in my backyard. I like to play with her but we still are mean to each other. I love her even though we fight. We are imperfect.
Jack - “Home Alone”
I love the movie “Home Alone”. This is a picture of Kevin hanging from his tree house. I chose my own colors for it because “nothing is perfect”.
Kallaway - “Flowers”
Award of Merit
Imperfect things are the most special because they are unique.
Thomas - “The Greatest Pumpkin Picture”
Honorable Mention
Pumpkins aren’t perfect. I drew a jack-o-lantern because it is my favorite even though it’s not perfect. A weird pumpkin makes a good jack-o-lantern.
Tate - “Self Love”
Everyone is different and nobody is perfect. We should like ourselves and who we are no matter what we look like or if we are the perfect, coolest kid.
Ella - “The Night Sky”
Honorable Mention
My painting is about nature at night. I created it on my iPad using Procreate. My favorite tool to use while creating my painting was the different brushes on the app. The colors I chose for my painting blend really well together to make a night sky. My favorite part of the painting is when the colors change. It reminds me of when the stars and the sky st
Ellery - “Dance is Imperfection”
Award of Merit
I drew me as a dancer because dance is hard for me and it represents imperfection. Dance is hard and when you fall down you have to get back up and try again.
Karma - “My Fall Season”
Award of Excellence
The art piece has pictures that are perfect, but imperfections are obvious in each piece. The fun is spotting them. One picture, of sun setting, one is a selfie of a friend accepting their differences, a picture of a heart shape design, a selfie, a picture of a tree in fall season, beautiful with one section barren of leaves. All pictures taken by me. I l
Callan - “Fruits”
Award of Merit
Story: There is a blueberry robber. And, the police officer got him. Then, all the fruits are cheering. Then, the blueberry robber goes to jail.
Theme of “Accepting Imperfection”: No one is perfect, but you still shouldn’t steal money just because if your life is not perfect, you should still try to make life more better.
Harper - “Hamster and Kitty Become Friends”
Award of Excellence
They became friends even though they weren’t the same kind.
